Ein erstes Video mit einer chemischen Reaktion: Oxy und Hydro veranschaulichen uns die Elektrolyse und die Knallgasreaktion. Wasser wird in seine Bestandteile zerlegt und wieder zusammengesetzt.

Lange Nacht der Wissenschaften 2019

Save the date: The ELEMONSTERS live – at the Long Night of Science in Berlin on June 15th! In the Institute of Chemistry of the Technical University Berlin (building C, Strasse des 17. Juni 115) at 5pm there will be a science-show with many exciting experiments, a live Elemonster and many suprises. Also the Elemonsters card game will be available for the first time (including an augmented-reality-app). Unfortunately the event will be all in German.

The nobel metal palladium was named after the asteroid Pallas, which was discovered in the same time period as the element. The asteroid in return was named after Pallas Athena, an alternate name for the Greek goddess Athena. She is the goddess of wisdom, warfare and handicraft as well as name patron of the city of Athens.

Niobium was named after Niobe the daughter of Tantalos, who is namesake of tantalum – the element right below niobium in the periodic table. It is commonly used as an addition to stainless steel alloys.
